Your institutions already produce the evidence employers are asking for: courses, credentials, work-based learning, and durable skills. An LER talent marketplace is designed to support that work, validate it in open standards, and connect it to jobs, so its value is visible to learners, employers, and policymakers.

02 · The value

Make the value of your work visible, portable, and hireable.

A Learning and Employment Record (LER) is a verifiable, learner-owned record of skills and credentials. An LER talent marketplace connects the institutions that issue that evidence with the employers who need it, in a shared, standards-based network.

06 · Common questions

LER talent marketplaces, answered.

What is a Learning and Employment Record (LER)?

A Learning and Employment Record is a verifiable, learner-owned record of skills and credentials. The learner keeps it in an LER wallet, and it keeps working for them long after graduation.

What is an LER talent marketplace?

An LER talent marketplace connects the institutions that issue evidence of learning with the employers who need it, in a shared, standards-based network. It supports the work of faculty and advisors, validates skills as verifiable credentials, and connects those skills to jobs and pathways.

Who is an LER talent marketplace for?

EBSCOed builds LER talent marketplaces for community colleges, universities, and states. Learners get a portable record they own, employers get verified skills they can search and hire against, and institutions get evidence that their programs are associated with real outcomes.

Does it replace our current systems?

No. EBSCOed tools are designed to add to your current systems. You choose whether each tool enhances your SIS, LMS, or career platform, bridges systems that do not talk today, or replaces a legacy tool on your timeline.

Which standards does it use?

Credentials are issued in Open Badges 3.0, CLR 2.0, and W3C Verifiable Credentials, and published with CTDL. Skills and programs are aligned to O*NET / SOC, CIP, NAICS, ESCO, RAPIDS, and military codes.

Where is an LER talent marketplace running today?

It is live in Alabama through the Alabama Talent Triad, with more than 413,000 validated credential completions, 4.27 million validated skills, and 229,000 Learning and Employment Record holders.

How do we get started?

Most partners start in three steps: map programs to skills and occupations, switch on verifiable credentials and LER wallets, then open the marketplace to employers and partners. Contact Greg DiDonato at gdidonato@ebsco.com to begin.
